Vice Chairman, Bank of America

Protecting and advancing the reputation of one of the world’s largest financial institutions is a daunting task, and it’s a role in which Anne Finucane has thrived.
 
Anne is vice chairman at Bank of America and chairman of the board of Bank of America Merrill Lynch Europe and a member of the executive management team. In addition, she is responsible for the strategic positioning of Bank of America and leads the company’s environmental, social and governance (ESG), capital deployment and public policy efforts. Coming out of the financial crisis, her leadership was instrumental to restoring the brand and global reputation of the Fortune 50 company.

Anne oversaw the Bank’s corporate-wide integrated global branding campaign that launched in November of 2018. Under Anne’s leadership as Global Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer for more than 12 years—the Bank became the #1 financial services brand. Prior to Bank of America, Anne was Chief Marketing Officer at FleetBoston Financial, and before that Anne was at Hill Holliday, where she began as a television producer and left as Executive Vice President.

Today Anne also focuses on the company's outreach to shareholders on social and governance issues, and implementing innovative ways to deploy capital and expand business opportunities in support of the broad themes outlined in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including affordable housing, sustainable energy, clean water and sanitation, education and health care.

Anne chairs the Global ESG Committee at Bank of America, which directs all of the company’s ESG efforts, and the Capital Deployment Group, which collaborates across business lines to deliver innovative financing solutions to address global issues. She stewards Bank of America’s $300 billion environmental business initiative, oversees the company’s $1.6 billion Community Development Financial Institution portfolio and chairs the Bank of America Charitable Foundation.

Named to Fortune’s "Most Powerful Women List "and Forbes’ "Most Powerful Women List" three years running, Anne has used her unique combination of public policy, communications, and advertising expertise to shape Bank of America’s influence and reputation in critical areas of domestic and international business policy. She has led engagements with US and global organizations that include the World Economic Forum, the United Nations, the White House, the US Department of State, the World Bank, and the Council of Foreign Relations.

Anne serves on a variety of corporate and nonprofit boards of directors including Carnegie Hall, the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, The Ireland Funds, CVS Health, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Partners Healthcare, and Special Olympics.

Anne and her husband Mike Barnicle live in Lincoln, Massachusetts, where they raised four children.
