Managing Director, Global Product and Sales Activation, Google
Since joining Google in 2003, John has held various leadership positions within Google’s advertising sales organization. As Managing Director, Global Product and Sales Activation, John is responsible for leading Google’s product strategy and sales activation approach for millions of advertisers across the world. His organization evolves Google’s current advertising and consumer platforms and shapes the long term vision to help customers of all sizes deliver better business outcomes. John also serves as the head of Google’s San Francisco office and is also active in Google’s diversity and inclusion efforts in the workplace and in the community.
Prior to this role, John has served as Industry Director of Retail for Google, responsible for developing Google’s business strategy and partnerships with pure play and predominantly ecommerce-based retailers in North America. The group is responsible for helping retailers leverage Google’s products and platforms to transform their business models to deliver growth and delightful experiences for their customers. In early roles at Google, John helped scale Google’s AdWords and YouTube businesses including the launch of Google’s inside sales organization, the BrandUnit and Upfronts partnership groups as well as Google’s Agency Development and US Multicultural teams.
John is active in his community with charities such as CASA San Mateo and the George Marks house as well as within the advertising community with organizations like the IAB and SEMPO.
John, and his wife Courtney are parents to three happy children and live in San Mateo, California. You can find him coaching on the soccer pitch or baseball diamond with his children or behind the drum set with the neighborbood cover band.
He holds a degree in accounting from Santa Clara University.
