The 2005 Betty Riehl Excellence in Service Award is presented to Marge Traver, executive secretary of the Fresno Advertising Federation.
Marge Traver has served as the executive secretary of the Fresno Advertising Federation for 43 years. Her early career in advertising began at the Fresno Bee, as secretary and executive assistant to the circulation manager. In the late 1950s she was recruited to work with the largest advertising agency in the market, Long Advertising. After many years with that company, she took over the full-time job of executive secretary of the Fresno Advertising Federation for $50 per month and gas allowance. Since that time, Traver has been the consistent voice and image of the federation, helping to establish it as one of the strongest clubs in AAF’s District 14. She is responsible for implementing many programs and initiatives that have made the federation great. As a testament to her lifelong commitment to the industry, she was inducted into the Central California Advertising and Marketing Hall of Fame in 2003.
