AAF Mourns the Loss of past Council of Governors Chairman Jim Anderson

The AAF is sad to announce the loss of a great friend and leader, Jim Anderson.

Jim was well known for his service to the ad community, especially the American Advertising Federation, where he was President of AAF San Antonio before being elected Governor of the AAF Tenth District, and later Chairman of the AAF's Council of Governors.

“Jim's dedicated leadership and service to the American Advertising Federation will long be remembered, and we send our deepest condolences and sympathies to Jim's many friends and family," said AAF President & CEO James Edmund Datri.

Jim was honored with the AAF's Silver Medal award, regionally with the Tenth District Sterling Service award, and two years ago was inducted into the Southwest Advertising Hall of Fame.  In 1998 he was awarded the Barton A. Cummings Gold Medal, the highest honor given to a volunteer leader of the AAF.

Jim was the founder of the American Advertising magazine, which was the AAF's member magazine for a number of years.  He also served as Central Region Chair and remained active with the 10th District and its Foundation for Advertising Education until he could no longer travel.  He was elected Director Emeritus of The Foundation in 2011.

"Jim Anderson was a great man and will be deeply missed by all of us within District 10," said AAF District 10 Governor John Thomas.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jim’s name can be made to The Foundation for Advertising Education, where he was a founder and one of the original trustees.  Its purpose is to improve the quality of advertising education in the Southwest.
