Beth Comstock

Former Vice Chair, GE

Beth Comstock is a business leader focused on transformation, marketing and innovation. She was Vice Chair of GE, leading efforts to accelerate new growth, until her retirement at the end of 2017. Over the course of nearly two decades at GE, Comstock increased GE’s brand value, initiated new businesses, markets and service models; and partnered to enhance GE’s inventive culture. She oversaw the development of Current, an intelligent energy company, GE Ventures & Licensing, Fast Works, Ecomagination and Healthymagination and the ongoing operations of GE Lighting. She had responsibility for the sales, marketing and communications functions, and was the company’s first Chief Marketing Officer in 20 years. 

As President of Integrated Media at NBC Universal, Comstock oversaw ad revenue and the company’s digital efforts, including early development of hulu.com, Peacock Equity, and acquiring ivillage.com. Earlier in her career, she held a succession of marketing and communications roles at GE, NBC, CBS and Turner Broadcasting. Comstock is a member Nike’s Board of Directors and Trustee of the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum. She graduated from the College of William and Mary with a degree in biology.

Her first book, Imagine It Forward, will be published September 18, 2018 by the Currency imprint of Penguin Random House.
